Rating: 4.5 - Wow, what an ending! It's not your typical mystery. Nita Prose does an excellent job with Molly's character. I give it a 4.5 because I felt that "catching the fox" went a bit too smoothly - I was expecting another twist somewhere.
Molly, the maid, is not your average person. She comes off as somewhat simple-minded and weird, and she has a thing for cleanliness and rules. She is thankful to work as a maid at the Regency Grand Hotel. The story follows Molly after she discovers a guest dead in his room, setting off a chain of events that challenges her social and observational skills and unravels a web of secrets within the hotel's walls.
"The Maid" is not a conventional mystery; some of the mystery is partially revealed to the reader, but since Molly does not read the cues like others, in the end, she surprises everybody.
